SEATTLE, Washington—Medbridge, a digital health platform for clinician education, care delivery and patient engagement, launched its new Pediatric Clinical Skills curriculum. Built for home health, hospice and private duty organizations, Medbridge said its new program is among the first to combine specialized pediatric education, competency validation and point-of-care clinical support in one platform.
"When parents are able to go home and support their children on ventilators or with feeding tubes, it’s an amazing accomplishment,” said Lori Cover, who cares for children with special needs in early intervention at Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit and consults with Medbridge on curriculum development. “I feel privileged to care for these children.”
Medbridge said the program is designed to help organizations bridge the gap in home health education that nurses don't always receive.
"More than 1 million children in the United States live with a medical complexity, and the number continues to grow," the company said. "Increasingly, these children are cared for at home rather than in the hospital. However, most nursing programs don't prepare nurses for this type of care; they teach pediatric fundamentals like developmental milestones and common childhood illnesses, but the specialized technical skills these children require are usually gained only through on-the-job training or specialty certification."
The program consists of specialized, video-based clinical education, point-of-care resources built specifically for pediatric homecare workflows and digital competency tools that help organizations move nurses from onboarding to field readiness with greater consistency and confidence when supporting their patients and families. Ongoing development is supported through Medbridge's library of accredited continuing education and specialty learning opportunities.
