OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (May 7, 2019)—Health care IT provider Netsmart announced it has acquired Pennsylvania-based health care consulting firm, McBee. Health care IT solutions and services from Netsmart coupled with McBee’s health care professional services will provide community and acute care organizations with nearly a century of advisory and technology experience under one roof, furthering the alignment of care throughout the health care ecosystem.

The combination of these companies provides a comprehensive knowledge foundation for community-based health care organizations as they strive to manage the complex operational, financial and clinical requirements of value-based care and the assumption of risk. This acquisition builds upon and expands the Netsmart suite of consulting and managed services by adding industry expertise and resources specifically geared toward strategic consulting, change management, revenue cycle management, advisory and education services.

“As health care organizations continue to integrate and move toward value-based payment models, they need business partners who anticipate changes to health care models, rather than react to changes,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “We aim to anticipate clients’ needs, advocate for those needs and then assist clients to implement new models, so they can become leaders of a transformed health care system. McBee delivers critical knowledge that providers need to thrive in today’s changing landscape. The expertise from their advisors included as part of the Netsmart portfolio will accelerate our clients’ ability to deliver value by equipping them with the tools and strategies they need for future growth and success.”

McBee provides strategic consulting and insight needed for organizations to thrive in a value-based environment, with services in areas such as business organization structure, care management and clinical compliance, denials and appeals, bundled payments, billing and coding, OASIS accuracy, revenue recovery and more. These services are particularly valuable in the community and acute care markets as they undergo major reimbursement models.

“The Netsmart mission and vision to design and deliver industry-leading solutions are aligned with the mission and vision of McBee,” said Mike Dordick, McBee president. “We’ve both spent decades defining what providers need to be successful, developing best practices and technology to support them. By combining our strengths, we will expand our current and future clients’ access to expertise, education and technology that work to enhance clinical, operational and financial operations as well as the complete healthcare experience for the individuals they serve.”

The McBee brand name represents a respected voice in the industry, and while Netsmart plans to increase the value and collaboration with mutual clients, McBee will continue to serve as a thought leader and serve providers across the industry. Serving more than 3,800 providers and with over 250 McBee associates joining the Netsmart family, this addition creates a more aligned experience with improved integration between services and technology offerings from both companies.

“The health care industry is progressing, and providers must be able to count on their business partners to be in sync to deliver the tools and services to support these rapid changes,” said Valentine. “Together with McBee, we can help these same providers be successful today, tomorrow and beyond.”

TripleTree acted as the exclusive strategic and financial advisor to McBee for this transaction.
