WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (May 9, 2019)—3B Medical, Inc. announced that Lumin Bullet has been selected as a finalist in the homecare products segment of the 21st Annual Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition.

The Lumin Bullet is a new device designed and patented by 3B Medical to address the growing market for disinfecting medical devices. The device utilizes high powered germicidal ultra violet light (UVC). The Lumin Bullet provides a safe and effective means of keeping a CPAP hose free from the growth of a biofilm without the use of chemicals.

The MDEA are the medtech industry’s premier design competition committed to recognizing significant achievements in medical product design and engineering that improve the quality of healthcare delivery and accessibility. The awards program celebrates the accomplishments of the medical device manufacturers, their suppliers and the people behind the scenes—engineers, scientists, designers and clinicians—who are responsible for the cutting-edge products that are saving lives; improving patient care; and transforming medtech—one innovation at a time.

“3B Medical is honored to be recognized by the MDEA judges,” said Alex Lucio, CEO of 3B Medical. “The Lumin Bullet has exceeded our expectations for sales and we continue increasing production to meet consumer demand”.

The 2019 MDEA juror panel judged based on design and engineering innovation, function and user-related innovation, patient benefits, business benefits, and overall benefit to the health care system. Unlike other design competitions that are merely styling contests, the MDEA jury is comprised of a balance of practicing doctors, nurses and technicians alongside industrial designers, engineers, manufacturers and human factor experts.
