NCART Unveils Updated Web Site

WASHINGTON — The National Coalition for Assistive and
Rehab Technology has overhauled its Web site at www.ncart.us to provide
information and resources that the organization hopes will help
protect access to complex rehab.

According to Executive Director Don Clayback, the redesigned
site has been “completely reorganized and updated to provide timely
information and resources on complex rehab technology products and
services and help battle the issues that threaten consumer
access.”

Among the current issues highlighted on the Web site:
restoration of the 9.5 percent cut to complex rehab, responding to
the recent OIG
report on power wheelchairs and work on creation of a separate
complex rehab benefit. (See Conference

The new Web site includes areas on:

• Current Issues – Highlights significant issues
  that are in play currently that impact access to complex rehab
  technology products and services.

• Advocacy – Describes NCART’s focus on
  protecting and promoting access to complex rehab and identifies the
  coalition’s leadership.

• Position Papers – Presents NCART’s positions on
  legislative and regulatory matters along with related background
  information and actions needed.

• Medicaid – Identifies resources for working
  with state Medicaid programs including Medicaid Strategic
  Assistance, Medicaid Discussion Forum, Medicaid News, Medicaid
  Tools and Medicaid Links.

• Educational Material – Provides documents,
  presentations and studies to help educate stakeholders and
  policymakers regarding complex rehab.

• Policymakers – Provides an overview of complex
  rehab technology and offers assistance on issues related to the
  coverage and funding of the products and services involved.

• Contact Your Legislator – Lets visitors obtain
  the names of their federal and state legislative representatives
  and then communicate to them on key issues.

“Upgrading the Web site has been one of our biggest priorities
in making NCART a relevant resource in terms of advocacy and
addressing industry issues,” NCART President Gary Gilberti said in
a release.

Added Clayback, “With the coverage and funding issues now and
those that lie ahead, our Web site will serve as an important tool
in telling the complex rehab technology story and protecting access
to these important products and services. It has been designed to
provide information and resources in an easy-to-access format, to
allow for increased advocacy interaction and communication and to
give us a structure that we can add to and enhance as we move
ahead.”
