National Alliance for Care at Home Names Denis Fleming Chief Government Affairs Officer

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia—The National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance) announced longtime industry leader Denis Fleming Jr. will serve as chief government affairs officer effective Monday, Aug. 10.

Leaders in Congress and the administration are increasingly focused on expanding quality, cost-effective care in the home and are actively seeking new ideas to improve care for patients and families. Fleming is a government affairs leader with over two decades of experience spanning leadership roles in Congress, state executive bodies and major home health and hospice companies. Most recently, Fleming served as vice president of federal government affairs at UnitedHealth Group after eight years as senior vice president & legislative counsel for state and federal affairs at LHC Group, where he led federal and state advocacy for this national home health and hospice provider.  

Before that role, Fleming served as vice president of government relations with home health and hospice provider Almost Family, Inc.; chief of staff to U.S. Congressman Ben Chandler (KY-6); chief deputy attorney general of Kentucky; and deputy secretary of the governor’s executive cabinet and general counsel to the Governor of Kentucky. He began his career practicing healthcare law with the national law firm Barnett & Alagia.

At the Alliance, Fleming will lead the legislative and regulatory teams, and work closely with policymakers, industry stakeholders and grassroots networks to shape policies impacting the delivery of care at home, including provider reimbursement, regulatory requirements, quality and program integrity reforms and innovative care models. The Alliance said his leadership will strengthen its ability to represent and empower its members while ensuring better access to home-based care for patients and their loved ones.
