Medtrade, Sigvaris Team on Seminar with Online Tutorial

Ga.—Medtrade and Sigvaris have teamed up to
offer online education and in-person training for HME providers who
want to become certified fitters of compression therapy
products.

An online educational session, available beginning today (Aug.
14), will work in tandem with a one-day seminar that will take
place on Monday, Oct. 12, at the Georgia World Congress Center in
Atlanta as part of the Medtrade pre-show conference. Produced
by Nielsen Business Media, Medtrade will take place Oct. 12 –
15.

The purpose of the Basic Fitter Training Course is to advance HME
professionals’ knowledge of compression therapy in treating
venous disease, lymphedema and other medical conditions.
 
The course has two options:

• Option One: Attendees can take an online course
devoted to venous anatomy and venous disease progression. After
completing the online course, they can attend the afternoon session
of the Sigvaris training program at Medtrade’s pre-show
conference Oct. 12. Afternoon session attendance is mandatory to
receive Sigvaris’ Fitter Certification and/or American Board
for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics or
Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification accreditation.

• Option Two: Attendees can attend a full-day session of
the Sigvaris training program at the Oct. 12 pre-show conference.
The morning session will cover venous anatomy and venous disease
progression. The afternoon session will concentrate on product
details, fitting tips and techniques and the role of the fitter in
the process. Full-day attendance is mandatory for those choosing
Option Two who wish to receive Sigvaris’ Fitter Certification
and/or ABC/BOC accreditation.
  
“The format is designed to provide another option to
attendees who are not able to travel to Atlanta in time for the
morning session and for those who wish to participate in one of the
other pre-show events,” said Kevin Gaffney, Medtrade show
director, adding that future plans for the show include offering
additional online education.
 
Sigvaris’ one-day fitter seminars are designed to provide the
fitter of medical compression stockings with the needed medical
knowledge to accurately measure, fit and select the appropriate
product for patients with veno-lymphatic disorders.
 
The interactive workshop will cover:

• Circulatory anatomy and physiology;
• Venous and lymphatic disorders;
• Measuring and fitting workshop;
• Handling physician prescriptions; and
• A Sigvaris product overview.

accepted by medical professionals nationwide,” said Charles

through either the online training program or full conference

The cost to attend either option of the seminar is $40 and includes
