Medtrade Offers In-Depth Options for Rehab Professionals

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — According to show producer Nielsen
Expositions, Medtrade 2010 will offer a full lineup for
rehabilitation professionals, including the opportunity to gain
continuing educational credits.

The pre-show conference, which takes place on Monday, Nov. 15,
includes the following sessions:

• “Delving Into Best Practice: A Case- and Evidence-Based
  Approach,” presented by Ann Eubank, MSSW, OTR/L, ATP, Permobil, and
  Mark Schmeler, Ph.D., OTR/L, ATP, University of Pittsburgh and
  sponsored by Permobil Inc. (7 CEUs approved by the University of
  Pittsburgh)

• “PMD Audit Survival Guide: Understanding Reimbursement &
  Documentation Guidelines for Standard and Complex PMD,” presented
  by Dan Fedor, general manager of education, Pride Mobility Products
  Corp. and sponsored by Quantum University/Pride Mobility Products
  Corp. (0.5 CEU/5.0 CEC approved by the University of Pittsburgh
  School of Rehabilitation and Science)

• “The Science of Mat Evaluations and Wheelchair Prescription,”
  presented by Jay Doherty, OTR/L, ATP, clinical education manager,
  Pride Mobility Products Corp. and sponsored by Quantum
  University/Pride Mobility Products Corp. (0.6 CEU/6.0 CEC approved
  by the University of Pittsburgh School of Rehabilitation and
  Science)

The Rehabilitation & Assistive Technology track within the
Medtrade educational conference will offer 17 sessions that address
issues including patient outcomes, reimbursement and clinical
protocol. All sessions will offer CEUs.

“The Rehab & Assistive Technology track at Medtrade has
grown substantially from last year with many great speakers and
topics that are timely and informative for complex rehab
providers,” said Mark Schmeler, Ph.D., OTR/L, ATP, University of
Pittsburgh, and member of the show’s Educational Advisory
Committee. “Topics will cover clinical applications but, just as
important, updates on the separate benefit category proposal and
strategies to address the impact national competitive bidding will
have on rehab will be provided.”

At the Medtrade Expo, leading manufacturers of rehab and
mobility equipment will be present to showcase the latest products
and technologies. Additionally, the National Registry of
Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers (NRRTS) Complex Rehab Pavilion
will be located on the show floor. The pavilion is a grouping of
booths all sharing a common theme: equipment and services to meet
the complex needs of people with disabilities who have significant
mobility and postural deficits.

“The NRRTS Complex Rehab Pavilion at Medtrade brings together
the organizations involved in the complex rehab technology
profession and the manufacturers who provide the products that we
use to meet the needs of our clients,” said Simon Margolis, NRRTS
executive director. “The pavilion has been moved to a higher
traffic area — front-and-center in the exhibit hall. NRRTS,
NCART, RESNA and the University of Pittsburgh-RSTCE will have
booths to meet and greet their members/registrants as well as
disseminate information about issues facing our industry and
profession. A total of 20 manufacturers will be exhibiting in the
NRRTS Complex Rehab Pavilion.”
