AMEPA, CAMPS Set California Rally for H.R. 3790

MIAMI — The tally for H.R. 3790 has climbed to 136
cosponsors, but advocates say at least 218 are needed to gain
congressional attention and move the bill through the House of
Representatives. Introduced by Rep. Kendrick Meek, D-Fla., the
proposed legislation would repeal DMEPOS competitive bidding.

According to officials from the Accredited Medical Equipment
Providers of America, southern California is home not only to the
Round 1 Riverside MSA but also to 25 of California’s 53
congressmen. “That is equal to the total number of U.S.
representatives in Florida, greater than those in Ohio and
Pennsylvania and nearly double those in North Carolina,” an AMEPA
message pointed out. “Their support of the bill is vital to its
passage.”

That’s why AMEPA and the California Association of Medical
Product Suppliers are hosting a rally to support the bill.
According to CAMPS, the event is a great opportunity for “the
entire California HME industry to expand efforts to support H.R.
3790 and gain awareness and support amongst our legislators
…

“Every DME, respiratory, PWC, pharmacy and diabetic provider is
encouraged to participate to learn the effects of competitive
bidding, how to engage their legislators and unite for the benefit
of all DME providers in California,” CAMPS said on its Web
site.

The rally will be held Thursday, Feb. 11, between 10 a.m. and
noon at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center, 7000 Beach Blvd., in
Buena Park, Calif., just outside of Anaheim.
