GreenLight Mobility Expands To Chicago Suburbs
LIBERTYVILLE, Illinois—GreenLight Mobility, a home-modification franchise that aims to keep families together despite mobility challenges, has expanded into the northern suburbs of Chicago, signing a U.S. Navy veteran as its newest franchisee.
Entrepreneur Whitney Booth, who lives in Libertyville, said she purchased a GreenLight Mobility franchise to capitalize on her healthcare experience as an operations officer of a multipractitioner medical practice, where she oversaw day-to-day operations that included vendor relationships and patient experience.
“I am passionate about serving individuals with mobility restrictions and believe deeply that every person deserves the freedom to live safely and independently in the home they love,” said Booth. “I want to be part of a solution that enables people to continue to lead the life they want to in a safe and supported fashion. My focus is on genuine care and making every client interaction matter.”
GreenLight offers a franchise opportunity at the intersection of healthcare, home modifications and aging-in-place solutions. Unlike traditional contracting businesses, the healthcare-centric franchise model blends clinical insight with home modification expertise, allowing franchisees to serve a growing number of seniors and individuals with limited mobility. Assessments are performed by or under the direction of a licensed healthcare professional, such as a certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) or a physical therapist (PT)–not a salesperson.
“The GreenLight Mobility franchise model continues to attract healthcare professionals and military veterans who are committed to a high level of service, allowing more seniors to age in their own home and more disabled individuals to retain a level of independence by providing mobility and accessibility solutions,” said Oakscale Franchise Partner’s President Joshua Kovacs, who manages franchise sales for the GreenLight Mobility brand. “As a franchise sales organization (FSO), we help franchisors and franchisees realize their vision with a complete package of award-winning technology, insightful training and effective marketing support.”
GreenLight Mobility Libertyville will serve the northern Chicago suburbs, including most of Lake County, and some Cook and McHenry county communities. Other communities include Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Waukegan, Gurnee, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, North Chicago, Wadsworth, Great Lakes and Zion. Northwest suburbs include Mundelein, Barrington, Lake Zurich, Cary, Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Fox River Grove, Grayslake, Island Lake, Round Lake, Wauconda and Hoffman Estates. North Shore communities of Northbrook, Highland Park, Deerfield, Fort Sheridan, Highwood, Lincolnshire, Prospect Heights and Glencoe.
“The northern Chicago suburbs are home to a large, established and aging population,” Booth said. “People who have lived in their homes for decades and want nothing more than to stay in them safely. I saw an opportunity to build something here that is both a strong business and a genuine service to my neighbors. My hope is that every family in this territory who is navigating the challenges of limited mobility knows that there is a trusted, local resource ready to help them.”
GreenLight Mobility is the brainchild of founders Gregg and Karen Frank, a licensed occupational therapist and a physical therapist, respectively. Since 2007, the couple has helped more than 10,000 families remain in their homes, despite mobility limitations. The company’s headquarters is based in Randolph, New Jersey.
In addition to a protected territory, the growing franchise delivers several benefits to franchisees to support sustainable success:
- Purpose-Driven: GreenLight keeps families safe and together in their own home.
- Diverse Revenue Streams: GreenLight franchises provide stairlifts, ramps, grab bars, bathroom modifications and equipment rentals.
- High Margins: GreenLight provides existing relationships with suppliers of mobility solutions, often with negotiated pricing and manufacturer support.
- Healthcare Centric: In GreenLight’s model, COTAs and/or PTs access each request, which builds trust among clients and more referrals from area healthcare organizations.
- Turnkey Training & Support: GreenLight offers 10-day comprehensive onboarding and field/vendor training programs. No prior medical or construction experience is required.
- Compact Warehouse Model: A 2,000-square-foot footprint supports low overhead while enabling professional client interaction and localized inventory. It also allows for more inventory to be kept on hand for fast installs.
- Fast-Growing Age-In-Place Market: The market is projected to grow from 107 billion in 2025 to 176 billion in 2032, according to Fortune Business Insights. One in five Americans will be 65 or older in 2030, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
“I have spent my career building and running operations in service-driven environments,” Booth said. “First in the Navy, then in healthcare. I have a passion for service and was looking for a business that combined my operational background with work that genuinely matters to people. GreenLight Mobility checked every box. The business model is proven, the mission is clear and the need in my community is real and growing. When I found GreenLight Mobility, it kept coming back to me as the right fit.”
