BOC Honors Kasey Turner as 2026 Certificant of the Year
OWINGS MILLS, Maryland—The Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) announced Kasey Turner, a certified orthotic fitter at Bionic Prosthetics & Orthotics, as its 2026 Certificant of the Year.
BOC said it selected Turner for her dedication to patients, mentorship of colleagues and contributions to improving clinic operations. With more than 20 years of experience in orthotics and prosthetics (O&P), Turner has held her BOC Certified Orthotic Fitter (COF) credential since 2011. She combines hands-on patient care with coordination and support that helps patients improve their quality of life.
“I’m truly honored to have been selected as BOC’s 2026 Certificant of the Year,” said Turner. “Getting to know my patients and understanding what matters to them is my favorite part of this work. I want each person to feel comfortable asking questions and confident about using their device. I’m grateful for this recognition and for the colleagues who share that commitment every day.”
Turner began her health care career in surgical technology after earning a diploma from Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College. She worked alongside orthopedic and neurological physicians in surgery before pursuing a career in O&P, where she could develop more focused relationships with patients.
In her specialized orthotic fitting work, BOC said Turner prioritizes patient comfort, device function and each patient’s individual needs. She takes a tailored approach to each patient interaction, emphasizing compassion and patience. In offering thorough guidance on how devices work and ensuring patients adequately understand their care, she serves as a trusted point of contact and support system throughout their care journeys.
Her impact also extends to elevating the teams around her. Turner trains and mentors clinicians, administrators and other staff members, sharing practical knowledge that strengthens coordination between clinical and administrative teams. She has helped improve documentation standards and workflows to support timely, well-coordinated services and a better experience for Bionic Prosthetics & Orthotics patients.
Turner’s community involvement includes years of participation in the PossAbilities Expo, a Bowling Green, Kentucky event that connects individuals with disabilities and their families with resources, services and opportunities. She also volunteers her time coaching youth sports and mentoring young people in her community.
“Kasey represents the very best of the O&P profession—compassionate, knowledgeable, community-focused and committed to excellence,” said BOC President & CEO Judi Knott. “She brings those same traits to mentoring colleagues and strengthening the profession overall. We are proud to recognize the lasting contributions she has made and applaud her unwavering commitment to supporting those who depend on her.”
