BAYADA Earns Top Score on Disability Index for Second Consecutive Year
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania—BAYADA Home Health Care has been recognized as a top workplace for disability inclusion on the 2026 Disability Index, marking the second year BAYADA has earned the designation.
The Disability Index, or Disability:IN, is an independent benchmarking tool for evaluating workplace disability inclusion policies and practices. The assessment considers organizations across six areas:
- Culture and leadership
- Enterprise-wide access
- Employment practices
- Community engagement
- Supplier inclusion
- Responsible procurement
The assessment is based on company practices and standards. Results are organized into six proficiency tiers—developing, foundational, emerging, established, advanced and distinguished—that help companies understand their level of maturity and how they can improve. BAYADA ranked at the “advanced” level, indicating strong leadership and integration of disability inclusion practices.
“This is an important milestone, but it is not a finish line,” said Lisa Begley, director of culture and communications division. “The BAYADA Way calls us to keep improving, and that commitment includes making sure employees with disabilities are heard, supported and able to contribute fully. We will keep listening, removing barriers and turning learnings into progress.”
The BAYADA Culture
For Rene Fierro, a BAYADA clinical associate, inclusion is reflected in a simple question: What does a team member need to be successful?
Fierro began his BAYADA career as a nurse before transitioning into a clinical associate role. He lives with dyslexia, and says conversations with his manager, practical training and supportive processes helped him move confidently into work that requires extensive document review.
“Every place that I go within the company, it’s always, ‘What is it that you need from us to help you be successful, where do you want to go and let’s help you get there,’” Fierro said. “My disability has never been a factor in what that entails, other than, ‘What support is it that you need?’”
Fierro joined BAYADA’s ABLE employee resource council to learn more about available resources, help make information more accessible to colleagues and connect with employees across the organization. Through ABLE, he said he has gained a deeper understanding that support must be tailored to each person.
“That’s been the biggest takeaway for me,” he said. “Everybody is different and everybody is individual, whether they have a disability or not.”
