Florida Ends Moratorium on Medicaid DMEPOS Enrollment
TALLAHASSEE, Florida—Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) announced on Sept. 24 that it will not extend its statewide moratorium on the enrollment of new durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and medical supply (DMEPOS) providers in Florida Medicaid. The agency said that, effective immediately, it is now accepting applications from new DMEPOS providers in all Florida counties.
The six-month moratorium took effect in late March and mirrored the nationwide Medicare DMEPOS enrollment moratorium implemented by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in February. The federal moratorium was lifted on August 27.
The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) suggested that Florida providers review enrollment requirements in the Florida Medicaid Provider Enrollment Policy and said questions can be directed to the Florida Medicaid Helpline at 1-877-254-1055.
AAHomecare monitors other states that have imposed similar Medicaid moratoriums and posts updates on its Medicaid Program Integrity page.
