Evo to Distribute Inogen One

After announcing its formation on Sept. 8., Evo Medical Solutions, the new incarnation of Medical Industries America (MIA), will become exclusive distributor for the Inogen One, a device introduced last year by Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Inogen to serve both stationary and portable oxygen requirements.

The deal secures a nationwide distribution network for the new device, which received marketing clearance from the FDA in May, and culminates the rebirth of MIA, a longtime respiratory manufacturer and distributor that has hired new management and changed its name.

Co-founded by Russell and Marilyn Bird in 1987, MIA has provided nebulizers, compressors, aspirators, CPAPs and a variety of interfaces and accessories.

The “Evo” name, Latin for “to unroll,” and management additions “herald an aggressive new product and services development initiative and direction within the home respiratory and sleep therapy markets,” the company said. Russell Bird, Evo’s board chairman, has brought on Bryan Hansel as president and CEO. According to Hansel, technologies aimed at patient outcomes will drive the new company’s business. “We pride ourselves on taking a novel approach to the typical problems in the provider business model and offering our customers innovative solutions based on new technologies,” he explained.
