Corporate Whistleblower Center Launches New Initiative Involving Sleep Clinic Medicare Fraud

WASHINGTON (Sept. 16, 2014)—The Corporate Whistleblower Center is urging employees of sleep clinics to make contact if they have proof one of these types of medical facilities is being used to overbill Medicare.

On Sept. 9, the Justice Department announced it has settled part of, and joined in part of, a lawsuit brought by a whistle-blower that alleges a Northeast Florida-based sleep clinic intentionally billed the government for millions of dollars of services that were not medically necessary and, in some instances, were never actually performed.  

The Corporate Whistleblower Center says, “If you are an employee in health care, and you have seen these types of practices, please call. We are especially interested in talking to employees at health care facilities, who have significant proof of overbilling Medicare at a sleep clinic, at a hospice provider, at a radiology center, at a skilled nursing facility, a dialysis center or at a hospital ER. You are not supposed to bill Medicare for services that were never performed or should have never been performed.”
