House Slates Bid Program Hearing Sept. 15

WASHINGTON — The American Association for Homecare and
other industry organizations are hoping to pack the House at a
congressional hearing on the Medicare competitive bidding
program Wednesday, Sept. 15.

The health subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce
Committee will hold the hearing, titled “Medicare’s Competitive
Bidding Program for Durable Medical Equipment: Implications for
Quality, Cost and Access.” According to the subcommittee, “This
hearing will examine the conception and implementation of the
competitive bidding program, the implementation of the Round One
Re-Bid, and its potential effects on patients, providers, and
physicians.”

AAHomecare has asked to testify at the hearing, which may
include a panel of HME representatives as well as a panel of
federal officials. The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. in Room 2123
of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
