Pride Gives Courtesy Rides

EXETER, Pa. — Pride Mobility Products provided courtesy
scooters to race fans with mobility impairments at the recent
Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway, the first in
the country to provide courtesy mobility scooters to its fans.
According to Mark Smith, the company’s consumer research manager,
the company also held a pre-race, on-track scooter race.

“We set up a 70-foot coned slalom course where two fans at a
time raced our scooters,” Smith said. “Over 1,000 people rode our
scooters, and to have our products seen and tried by so many people
in a fun, non-intimidating way goes a long way toward removing
stigmas toward those with disabilities who rely on mobility
products. A lot of perceptions were changed for the better.”
