Nipro to Acquire HDI

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., and OSAKA, Japan—Diabetes products
manufacturer Home Diagnostics Inc. (HDI) said last week it will be
acquired by Japan’s Nipro
Corp. in a $215 million deal. Based in Osaka, Nipro
manufactures and distributes medical devices, pharmaceutical
products and medical and glass products. HDI’s product line
includes the TRUE2go, TRUEresult, TRUEtrack, TRUEbalance, Sidekick,
TRUEread and Prestige IQ blood glucose monitoring systems. The
transaction is expected to be finalized before the end of the first
quarter.
