DME MACs Form CERT Task Force

BALTIMORE — In what CMS describes as a “unique approach to
reducing common CERT error rates,” the agency’s four DME MACs have
formed a CERT Education Task Force and will hold a national
Ask-the-Contractor teleconference to introduce the new
initiative.

In a listserv message, the MACs said the new task force “has
identified common national errors and has developed consistent
educational messages that will be used by all four DME MAC
jurisdictions in support of reducing errors.”

During the teleconference, which will be held from 2 to 3:30
p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 13, members of the task force will share
details on CERT education that can help reduce errors following
increased audits and requests for additional documentation to
support payment of claims, according to the announcement.
