CRE: CMS Says No to Accreditation Extension

WASHINGTON — According to a posting by the Center for
Regulatory Effectiveness, there won’t be any extensions for DMEPOS
providers who don’t meet tomorrow’s accreditation deadline (Sept.
30).

The CRE, a regulatory watchdog group, said it has had “extensive
discussions with CMS regarding accreditation,” and that the agency
“has decided not to grant an extension to DME providers.

“In arriving at this decision,” CRE continued, “CMS has given
serious consideration to several congressional mandates, including
patient access and congressionally mandated deadlines.”
