SAN DIEGO (Sept. 29, 2014)—ResMed announced that it has expanded its relationship with Brightree, provider of home medical equipment (HME) billing and business management software solutions. The two companies have agreed to both enhance the existing integration of ResMed's U-Sleep premium sleep compliance solution within the Brightree solution and add new features and capabilities from ResMed's AirView patient management system.

The first enhancements, scheduled to be introduced to joint customers in November, are designed to help HME providers grow and manage their sleep business more cost effectively. They will also give HMEs the flexibility to choose which ResMed patient management system best suits their needs, U-Sleep or AirView, both of which will be seamlessly accessible within the Brightree solution.

In 2013, Brightree and ResMed began working together to automate the onboarding of patients that use ResMed S9 positive airway pressure devices into U-Sleep. The companies have continued to add capabilities that further automate HME workflows, such as notifications in the Brightree system when a patient has reached CMS compliance guidelines, and reporting patient use for audit purposes or referral source education.

"ResMed recognizes that many HME providers prefer to operate their businesses from within a single application, and a significant percentage of the industry uses Brightree as their business platform of choice," said Raj Sodhi, vice president of ResMed Healthcare Informatics. "By expanding our integration with Brightree, we will be able to advance our goal of seamlessly delivering sleep and respiratory compliance management data and features where and how our customers want to use them."

U-Sleep and AirView are part of the ResMed Air Solutions suite of sleep and respiratory products that provide physicians, providers, and patients with the tools and data they need to improve workflow efficiencies and patient outcomes. This suite includes the recently-announced AirSense 10 device series, which can provide daily therapy information to AirView and U-Sleep via built-in cellular communication.
