CHICAGO, Ill. (June 28, 2016)—The international rehabilitation and care sector will meet again this year at REHACARE International 2016, Trade Fair with Congress & Forums, September 28–October 1 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany. The event is sold out, and 950 exhibitors from 34 countries will present innovative products and services for self-determined living for people with disabilities or requiring care as well as seniors.
“We are expecting a terrific event in every respect, one that will clearly surpass the great results of the comparable REHACARE 2014 event with 900 exhibitors on 322,900 square feet of exhibition space,” said Joachim Schäfer, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf. “The six available exhibition halls are fully booked. Visitors can expect a top international event, with almost 50 percent of exhibitors coming from abroad. From the leading players in the industry to many small and medium-size companies serving special segments, REHACARE will bring together all those who offer competitive solutions in the worldwide market.”
REHACARE 2016 will feature more than 400 exhibitors from countries other than Germany, including Denmark, Great Britain, China, Canada and Taiwan. Companies from Asia in particular have been using REHACARE in recent years to enter the European markets and this year they will come from India, Hong Kong, Malaysia and South Korea. In addition, China will have an impressive showing with three joint stands and over 50 exhibitors. From Taiwan, a traditionally strong exhibitor country, some 40 exhibitors will participate.
REHACARE will take place in Halls 3 to 7 and 7a of the Düsseldorf’s exhibition center. In addition to its core segment of mobility and everyday aids, aids for care and communication equipment, the trade fair will present a large array of vehicles and sports activities for the disabled as well as ideas for accessible homes, leisure and travel.
With the presence of all key international aids manufacturers, the mobility sector will be fully represented with its wheelchair, vehicle and walking aids innovations. The products of the approximately 300 exhibitors in this sector are spread over four exhibition halls.
The new motor show at REHACARE 2016 occupying about 21,500 square feet of exhibit space is a first at rehabilitation trade fairs. Thirty specialist suppliers will showcase customized car conversions and installations for disabled drivers in Hall 6. AUDI, Daimler, Volkswagen and Fiat will join these companies with their current standard car models equipped for the disabled.
Hall 4 will be the central information center for products for children with disabilities. This is where parents and family members can find equipment ranging from wheelchairs to communication aids for education.
The REHACARE Forum in Hall 3 will address current topics. Whether it is about inclusion, quality of life or the sustainable organization of care—experts from self-help groups and agencies, social economists and politicians will host lectures on all four trade fair days. A special theme this year will be opportunities for people with disabilities on the employment market. The theme area “People with disabilities at work” located close to the REHACARE Forum will explore the issues in depth through individual conversations.
REHACARE 2016 will address the broad spectrum of “Care at home” topics with the Forum Living “care@home” in Hall 3. The care forum will take up subjects of interest to both professional and family members caregivers. A varied program of information and training, organized by the Lower Rhine School of Nursing (Germany) will focus on issues of palliative care, the care of people with dementia and aspects of intercultural competence as well as conflicting perceptions of care along with the associated challenges and possible solutions.
As Germany’s first information platform on the subject of neighborhood development, the REHACARE Congress on September 29 will emphasize the interdisciplinary exchange between municipalities, social service providers, the housing industry and local civic organizations. The congress will be held in cooperation with the Trustees of German Help for the Aged (KDA).
In Hall 3, the German Society for Gerontechnology (GGT) will give advice on accessible house construction and at home living. In a special show with partner companies, it will present products and equipment for more comfort at home, encourage independence and facilitate care.
In Hall 5, people with sensory disabilities and limited motor skills will find exhibitors devoted exclusively to their needs. This is also where “accessible travel” companies will give vacation tips.
North Rhine-Westphalia's Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Federation (BRSNW) will return to Hall 7a with its popular Sports Center, presenting the full range of sports activities for the disabled.
