LUBBOCK, Texas (March 30, 2015)—The MED Group announced the expansion of its payer network to include several new and enhanced agreements. MED Group members will now have access to an additional 11.8 million covered lives through agreements with medical cost containment company Prime Health Services Inc. (PHS), MultiPlan’s Texas True Choice (TTC) Network, and Stratose. The addition of PHS, TTC and Stratose to the existing MED network will expand the company’s coverage to over 153 million lives, creating additional revenue opportunities for MED members.
PHS’s network is comprised of over 700,000 providers nationwide and offers providers access to lives beyond traditional group health by contracting with clients in worker’s compensation and auto liability. Its payer clients are primarily self-insured employers, third party administrators (TPAs), insurance carriers, and state or federal organizations.
MultiPlan’s TTC network is focused on Rural Service Areas (RSAs) for Texas Medicaid plans and includes the Texas STAR program, the Texas CHIP program, Star Health (foster care), and Star Kids (beginning 2016). This agreement will provide coverage for more than 3 million children and 800,000 adults enrolled in the various Texas Medicaid programs.
Stratose directly manages a PPO network with more than 850,000 provider contracts. The agreement gives MED members access to approximately 11 million lives nationwide. One of the largest PPOs in the United States, Stratose has strategic partnerships with national and regional PPOs, and is continuing to grow through mergers and acquisitions.
Jeff Woodham, The MED Group senior vice president and general manager, stated, "We are excited to bring these new payer agreements to our members enabling them to seek new revenue opportunities and discover new referral sources in their marketplace. Our members
can directly market their products, programs and services to the broad range of clients who utilize these three payers."
