RALEIGH, N.C. (June 27, 2016)—Domtar Corporation has purchased the assets of Butterfly Health, Inc.
Butterfly body liners offer discreet, secure protection for accidental bowel leakage (ABL). “This product provides a unique solution to a problem that exists for roughly one out of 10 people. It represents a complementary addition to our portfolio of brands and technologies,” said Mike Fagan, president of Domtar Personal Care.
Domtar Personal Care designs, manufactures and sells a wide range of incontinence solutions for adults, children and infants. Brands include Attends, Attends Care, Attends Discreet and Comfees.
Butterfly’s absorbent core is based on Domtar’s air-laid materials produced at its Jesup, Georgia, facility. Production of Butterfly will be maintained by a third-party manufacturing partner while Domtar looks for internal integration opportunities.
Butterfly liners were introduced in 2014 and are currently sold in North America through several major retail channels. Domtar will leverage its global footprint to expand commercialization to additional healthcare markets, with a focus on Europe.
